Meet The Collector

I would like to welcome you to Blue House Buttons, I am a button collector. I love to hoard them, sell them, and then collect more. We'll call it, "an endless quest for old buttons."  This website for Blue House Buttons was founded in 2006 as a venue for me to sell my extras and duplicates in order to purchase additional buttons.  I am a member of the National Button Society, visit them at http://www.nationalbuttonsociety.org/Home.html and the New York State button society, visit them at http://web.mac.com/hnc1/Site/Welcome.html.   I am also a member of The Mohawk Valley button club in upstate New York.

Being such an avid collector, I would be hard pressed to say what type of button is my favorite but if you really twisted my arm, Bakelite is at the top of the list with China and Old Charm String type glass making strong bids for second.

I started collecting (or more accurately, started accumulating) in the 1980's. Every estate sale and church rummage sale would yield a few buttons or more. I once actually attended an estate sale of a woman who had jars and jars of Victorian glass buttons and many dress buckles, what a haul. Over the past 15 years or so a dramatic increase in collectors has brought a new level of excitement to my never ending hunt. My best and most fun find to date is the 5 piece 1930's set of celluloid fingernail buttons, with red nail paint!  Keep a close eye on the website, those one of a kind fingernail buttons might be up for sale soon...
